Free learning opportunities will be offered at the Library's Spring Showcase April 8-11 in the South Campus (main) Library. Featured presentations include:

• NIH Public Access Policy: If your research is NIH-funded, you must now submit resulting published peer-reviewed articles to PubMed Central. Learn all the details. (1.5 hours on Friday, April 11)


• Mouse Genome Informatics (MGI): Get hands-on access to integrated data on the genetics, genomics, and biology of the laboratory mouse. This 2-hour class will be offered in the morning and repeated in the afternoon on Wednesday, April 9.


• Grant and Proposal Writing: Are you a beginning grant proposal writer? This class will give you an overview of grant and funding processes. (3 hours on Friday, April 11)


• COS Grant Funding Database: Learn how the COS Database can help you find grant funding from government, non-profit or for-profit sources. (1 hour on Thursday, April 10)


• SCOPUS Current Alerts: Be automatically notified of new publications in your field by setting up current alerts in the SCOPUS database. (2 hours on Thursday, April 10)


• Social Tagging & Social Networking for Scientists: Learn how social tagging can impact collaboration and research. (1.5 hours on Tuesday, April 8)

Other sesssions will cover:

• Researcher ID Profiles in Web of Science: What are the potential benefits?


• Using Basic EndNote to create bibliographies and libraries


• Mobile Device/PDA uses in medical and research settings

Classes are offered between 9 a.m. and 4 p.m. April 8-11. For class times, more information, and to register for classes, go the Library Web site's class registration page. On the class list, look for those beginning with the word "Showcase."

Class location will be the South Campus (main) Library Informatics Classroom, room E2.310A, on the Main Floor.
