Library computers offer a variety of software

Away from your campus office and need to use a computer? Stop by the Library! As a service to the campus community, the Library offers computers with a variety of software for UT Southwestern students and employees.
At the South Campus (main) Library (SCL) there are 45 computers in public areas, plus an additional 28 computers in the student computer area (on the Main Floor) that access the UT Southwestern student computing network. At the North Campus Branch Library, there are 18 general-use computers plus 3 dedicated to the student network. In addition, all group study rooms and many individual study rooms have computers. (All study rooms are for UT Southwestern clients only and require checkout of a key.)
The general-use computers have the following software:
- GroupWise
- Office 2007
- Internet Explorer 7
- FireFox
- EndNote (bibliographic manager)
- NCBI CN3D
- Roxio Creator (for DVD/CD burning)
- Standard Media Players: RealPlayer, Quicktime, Flash, Shockwave, Windows
- Scanners: Some computers have Canon scanners, and there are two HP scanners at each library
- Statistical Software: One computer at the SCL has SAS, SPSS, and Winks 4.70
The SCL also has two "clinical workstations" that offer access to the UT Southwestern electronic medical record (EMR) system. See the July 15 Library News article on the clinical workstations for details.
Computer users can print to Library printers for a fee of 10 cents per page for black and white (if paid via a copy card) or 11 cents per page (if billed to an account). Students can charge printing to their accounts. Color copying is $1 per page from Library printers. For more information, see the Library Web site page on Photocopying and Printing. If you have questions, contact the Library's Information Desk at 214-648-2001.
