Basic Multimedia Spanish and English translator: Polyglot 3.0

Posted on November 3, 2008

Polyglot 3.0 is a basic multimedia medical Spanish and English translator, useful for those learning medical terminology in Spanish or English. Words, phrases, and basic conversations can be searched. You can select a "phrase book" to see a display of bilingual phrases in that category. Some of the phrase books include:

  • General - Medications
  • Emergency Department - Adult Triage
  • Mother-Baby Care Unit - Patient Care
  • Prenatal - Equipment in the Clinic

Sound files are available for both languages. Although the default search is English, this can be changed to Spanish. Everything else on the page then appears in Spanish, not just the desired search terms – an extra benefit for those learning Spanish.

Find Polyglot 3.0 using the "Search" box on the Library Web site. Polyglot 3.0 was conceived and originally programmed by William T. Lawson, and produced by the Duke AHEC Program, Duke University Medical Center.
