Help homeless kids: Donate school supplies at Library
Posted on May 26, 2009
You can help homeless children by donating school supplies at a drop box in the South Campus (main) Library starting June 1. Backpacks, notebooks, crayons, calculators, and pencils are all needed. Personal items such as hand sanitizers, tissues, and gently used school clothes are also welcome.
This donation drive is being organized by the Graduate Student Organization (GSO) to benefit homeless children in the Dallas Independent School District (DISD). Currently, there are about 5,000 DISD students without any sort of permanent living arrangement. For this drive, the GSO is working with the district's Community Relations and Homeless Education Program departments. The GSO organizer for the drive is Tracy Diaz.
