2200+ new electronic books available

Posted on September 3, 2009

The Library recently purchased several large collections of electronic books (ebooks) from two primary publishers of medicine and science materials: Elsevier and Springer.

Over 2,000 Springer ebooks are available in the following subjects:

  • Biochemical & Life Sciences, published from 2008 through 2009
  • Chemistry & Material Sciences, published from 2006 through 2009
  • Medicine, published from 2007 through 2009

Over 200 Elsevier ebooks published from 2007 through 2009 are available in the following subjects:

  • Biochemistry, Genetics, & Molecular Biology
  • Chemistry
  • Immunology & Microbiology
  • Medicine & Dentistry
  • Neuroscience
  • Pharmacology, Toxicology, and Pharmaceutical Science
  • Psychology

To locate ebooks, go the Ejournals A to Z list (through the "Quick Links" list on the Library's Web site) and search for your topic or keyword. If an ebook title is available, then it will appear in the list with either "ScienceDirect eBooks" or "Springer eBooks" for the full-text link. Access via Ejournals A to Z permits EZproxy users to access the material from off-campus. Other off-campus users should use VPN to view the full text.

For UT Southwestern affiliates, access is also available (via the Library Web site) through the publishers' online content platforms: Elsevier's ScienceDirect and Springer's SpringerLink. Both platforms permit searching all available online content (books and journals) at once to obtain relevant information.

If you have any questions, contact Jon Crossno by email or phone at 214.648.2562.
